Glycemic Index Help

is low glycemic index carbohydrates good for post workout?

  1. They're not bad, but they aren't the best choice of carbohydrates for a post-workout meal. After a workout you want a source of protein and carbohydrates. This is one time where the carbohydrates should have a high Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load. This will cause optimal insulin secretion, which is what you want, to help put your body in an anabolic (muscle-building) state. Post-workout your protein:carbohydrate ratio should be 1:2 or 1:4. I'd have a scoop of whey protein mixed with water and 2 baked potatoes.
