Glycemic index food list? Last month I found a list online that listed foods by the glycemic index. It was divided for me into red, green, and yellow depending on the GI value. I cannot find it now!!! Does anyone know any links to this? I'm finding lists, but it's divided that easy, and I need to send it to my sister. If it's not that easy, her husband won't do it.

How do I calculate the glycemix index of a food? I am a borderline diabetic and my doctor has given me a list of foods I can eat and also which to stay away from. Basically, I have to eat foods that do not have a high glycemic index - but there are some foods that don't fall into either category on my list and I was wondering how to calculate what is ok and what isn't - obviously high sugar foods are no no's. But there are some foods that are more difficult to determine and I don't want to be calling my doctor every single time I have a question - that can get very expensive as well as tiresome. For instance, I cannot eat white bread or even whole wheat , but there are some low carbohydrate breads that are high in fiber - are these ok? Can someone please tell me if there is a specific formula to calculate the glycemic index of a food? Thank you.
low Glycemic Index foods? Can anyone give me or tell me where I can find a list of low GI foods and foods to avoid on the diet?thanks x
I am so confused about the glycemic index can anyone help? Atkins Low Carb help? first all the glycemic index sites I find all have different values for the same thing. One will say broccoli is 10 another site says 15, one says wheat bread 50 another 67. second, some of the list things like snickers and other candy bars as low glycemic value when I know very well they can't be!! Others have white bread less GI value than whole wheat and skim lower GI than whole milk. All of this is driving me very very crazy. Im taking in less than 50 grams of carbs a day and lost 20lbs quickly but now my weight loss has come to a complete halt!! So I was searching for even better food choices on glycemic web sites and that is when my head started to really spin. Im not saying I'm trying to add snickers bars to my diet! I was showing how messed up some of the glycemic websites are to list a candy bar as low glycemic like it would be ok to eat as part of a low carb lifestyle.

"What are the Top Ten Best Vegetables?"? In compiling your list what were the most important factors? I'm interested in knowing if you considered: Glycemic Index, Anti-Oxidant Content, Calories, "Sugar" Content, Vitamin Content or something else. Not at all interested in how they taste... Or, what one's 'favorites' would be... I'm even more interested in knowing if it is possible to construct a list of the Top Ten Best Vegetables that would suit the health preferences of a majority of people. I'd also prefer the list be based on what is available at Walmart, or the average supermarket in America. That takes in a lot of vegetables since America's vegetables come from all over the world. This should not preclude a non-American from responding, at least I hope I haven't created that impression... Dandelion and Purslane, two plants generally regarded as "weeds" in the U.S. are highly regarded in the 'Health Food' Community. Are they all that healthy? Any others of that sort on your list? Thanks for your input...
