Another Hypoglycemic ?? The glycemic index? I was wondering if anyone uses the glycemic index to control hypoglycemia. My daughter was diagnosed with sever hypoglycemia about a month ago and we are waiting to see a specialist. I check her sugar regularly. And it is up and down. 57-140mg/dl. I am wanting to try and stabilize it. But I am not sure how. If you have any ideas on how to or the index chart please let me know. She is not over weight. She is 4'4 and weighs 56lbs. The morning fasting sugars will sometimes be in the 100's or in the low 60's. Please help me.. I am so confused
Which is worse for a diabetic: white bread or wheat bread? I just visited a web site that said that wheat bread is worse for you then white bread if you are a diabetic. This makes no sense to me as I always thought it was the opposite. Is that true? Please list your source. Thanks. http://www.extendbar.com/diabetes/glycemic-index-chart.asp
I was always told that white pasta is high-GI, so why am I reading that some pastas are low-GI? According to this glycemic index chart: http://www.southbeach-diet-plan.com/glycemicfoodchart.htm According to this glycemic index chart: http://www.southbeach-diet-plan.com/glycemicfoodchart.htm And, if this is correct, WHY IS THAT!? Wouldn't the carbohydrates break down quite quickly from being so processed? The writings of Dr. Andrew Weil further skepticize me... It also has pineapple juice as low-GI, and I thought tropical fruits were supposed to be high-GI... man, I'm going crazy here!
