Glycemic Index Help

Which diet works best? Experiences? (no ads please!)?

I need to lose no more than 10 pounds, but nothing has worked so I'm looking for a structured diet that will just tell me what to eat for a couple of weeks and lose the weight...I'm thinking about joining ediets.com but I have to choose a diet and I don't know which one is best for me...The ediets weight loss plan is their option #1, and it seems ok...also, the glycemic index diet seems good for me because i looove sugar and I know that part of my weight is because of all that ice cream ive eaten in my life! one problem is that i just eat these vegetables: lettuce, broccoli and coleslaw, the other ones make me nauseous...i eat a lot of fruits, i like nonfat dairy and whole grains, so...i'm on the right track but I need to change my diet because its not working...so please i'd appreciate any suggestions about diets or any experience with these diets..

  1. go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to calculate points or to buy special meals or plans.
  2. According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, a healthy eating plan: Emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products Includes lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts Is low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugars Stays within your daily calorie needs
  3. Try www.sparkpeople.com Has all the articles, meal plans, fitness tips, chat rooms, and other stuff as ediets but it's free. The more natural and less processed you eat the better. Also grains are good but you have to be careful with eating to many carbs on those days you are less active. Drink your water also...it is good for you and it speeds up your metabolism. Check out the website, it's awesome!
  4. I started at weighing 180, and I am now down to 160 by doing 30 minutes of walking everyday, and eating oatmeal and fruit and a cheese stick for breakfast, a sandwich on whole wheat bread, a snack like a fruit cup or cottage cheese, and for dinner I would eat grilled or baked chicken with half a plate full of veggies like steamed broccoli and carrots, and no starch like potatoes or rice. I am in the process of losing 20 more lbs, and I must say that my eating habits have changed, and the more weight I see gone off the scale, I am more motivated to continue eating healthy. A good snack too that I like is almonds! They are really filling and I love the flavored ones by blue diamond.I was a sugar freak too, but really once you cut soda and junk food, you don't crave it!
  5. In my experience no diet works. I struggled for many, many years with my weight. Yes, whilst I did manage to lose weight on certain diets, some more than others. Unfortunately, as soon as I returned to my normal way of eating again. All the weight piled back on, plus more. So I eventually came to the conclusion that I would change my lifestyle. The results were absolutely amazing. I managed to lose 48lbs in just over 6 months. That was over 2 years ago. I have since then been able to maintain my weight with ease. This is how I did it. I eat a balanced, low fat diet, with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Making sure I make healthily choices most of the time, but no foods are forbidden. This means enjoying small amounts of favorite foods without feeling guilty. And if I do over indulge, or have a big night out. I cut back the a bit or or do more exercise the next day to balance things out. I don't avoid any foods. Just watch my portion sizes and limit the amount of certain foods (such as biscuits, takeaways, alcohol, and sugary snacks). I also make sure I MOVE as MUCH as I CAN. I took up running. Obviously this is something I had never done before. So I had to start off very slowly, but I know run on a regular basis. Physical activity is one of the strongest indicators of long-term success. Not only does it burn calories and increase metabolism-boosting muscle. It also boosts self-esteem and beats stress. You have a life to live and enjoy. So hang on the to the satisfaction of being a comfortable healthy weight you can sustain. Good Luck.
