  1. I first became interested in GI foods in relation to diabetes, before others jumped onto the bandwagon and turned it into a fad, and bought a book called Living the GI Diet by Rick Gallup and found it sensible, practical and useful. I am more interested in basic foods rather than ready mades. There's a GI Pocket Guide too, that you can take shopping with you. I see there is a book called Beyond GI - the GI List available from Tesco and Amazon. There's a list of GI foods on http://www.the-gi-diet.org recipes too, but I'm not sure how comprehensive it is. http://www.bupa.co.uk/health_information has a useful list of common foods with Glycaemic and carbohydrate content.
  2. This site will help you. http://www.glycemicindex.com/ If you want more on diabetes visit my free website http://www.reddiabetes.com
  3. David Mendosa posted the first glycemic index and glycemic load on his website: http://www.mendosa.com There are foods from all over the world listed on Mendosa's site. He tested everything in relationship to his personal reading on white bread. Since each of us is an unique individual and diabetes is uniquely individual to each of us, meds, foods, drinks, and movements are all uniquely individual to each of us as well. This is to say, Your Milage May Vary! and very likely will. Test all foods for yourself. check glucose numbers, eat the food, test again 90 minutes to 2 hours after the first testing. Keep a journal of glucose testing, foods, drinks, movement and how you feel. Accuracy in GI listing of foods is sort of like accuracy in observing beauty! It is individual.
  4. if you log into the world diabetes federation or the European federation web site there is one
