Low glycemic index cereal?

- anything with whole grain and nothing with enriched white grain or straight up wheat...and also straight sugar is not really good. anything with molasses or fructose is the best. i have gone thru many cerals that tasted horrible that had a low glycemic index but the best ive ever had is called barbara's bakery puffins. its flavored with cinnamon and molasses and its AMAZING! but its an organic cereal so ur best bet to try it is at a dierbergs, or trader joes, or natures way.
- If you're referring to dry cereals, there's not too many out there that would fit in the low GI chart. Most of them heavily market themselves as healthy when even the "healthy" cereals have bad ingredients in them. With that said, you may have luck finding relatively healthy dry cereals by looking in the health food section of the supermarket. Pay close attention to the ingredients to see if it lists any sort of processed or whole sugars and avoid those. I've seen a (very) few that do appear to be pretty healthy. The problem with dry cereals is that almost by definition they're processed. Of course, you'll never go wrong with whole oats (not instant), it's a low GI hot cereal packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals and it's virtually impossible to find a dry cereal as healthy. Just be careful what you add to it.
