Anyone have experience with the Glycemic Index diet?
And what is the difference between glycemic index and glycemic load?

- I posted the items from the glycemic index on my fridge once and really cut back on the 'white' processed stuff for a while. You can find out about the difference between the index and the load by googling.
- Glycemic Index is a ranking of carbohydrates based on how much they raise the blood glucose level. This is based on the chemical composition of the food. Glycemic Load is determined by the glycemic index of the food and the amount you are eating. So a small portion of a high glycemic index food would raise your blood glucose the same as a large portion of a low glycemic index food.
- You should read the book, Syndrome X, it tells you all about the glycemic index diet--I stopped eating all refined and processed foods, especially sugar and wheat products. I lost 11 pounds in 1 month and feel more energetic and alert. It is very hard--any kind of valuable diet is hard- you have to shop around sugar and processed products-- as I get better at it I have found that we as a nation are addicted to sugar as there is sugar in everything--practically inundated with sugar!!! I try not to purchase anything with over 2 grams of sugar in it--shop in the parameters of the market avoid the middle isles that is where the sugar monster lays in wait. Glycemic index is you ability to process sugar via insulin and the glycemic load is how much sugar you can process and how much sugar is turned to fat. You probably have insulin resistance but changing you eating habits can reverse this disorder and enable your body to better defend against the onslaught of sugar in foods. I highly recommend reading Syndrome X by Challem, Burkson, and Smith. It covers the nutritional changes you need to make to correct insulin resistance--it gives you advice on meals, supplements, exercise, and a plethora of other information--try it you'll like it!!!! Also, try Billy Blanks boot camp workout--fabulous and fun way to drop weight but most important you tone and sculpt right away--you'll see results in as little as 3 days!!!! Good Luck.
